FrootMap is a mobile app designed to connect local communities by enabling users to buy, sell, or donate fresh produce, from fruits and vegetables to herbs and spices. The idea was rooted in a simple thought: how can we stop good produce, like fallen lemons, from going to waste?

The Challenge

The client wanted to build a platform that supported local growers and minimised food waste, while also making it easy for everyday users to share or sell homegrown products in their neighbourhoods. The app needed to be user-friendly, community-driven, and support secure transactions.

The Solution

The Upscalix team built the FrootMap mobile app using React Native, ensuring a user-friendly experience across both iOS and Android. We implemented all core features, including seller and buyer matchmaking, donation flow for homegrown produce, and secure in-app payment and purchase integration.

The Results

With a team of 8 team members over 5–6 months, we brought FrootMap to life, an intuitive, sustainable solution encouraging users to support local and reduce waste. The app is now a growing platform that supports community-based commerce and food sustainability.
